Solution for Continuous Flow Synthesis of Fluorenyl Boronate Esters
Fluorenyl boronate esters and their derivatives are important intermediates for optoelectronic materials, widely used in fields such as OLEDs and OFETs. They are also employed as responsive boron-based biomaterials in biopharmaceutical applications, serving as responsive nanobiomaterials for targeted chemical drugs, protein drugs, gene therapies, and imaging agents.
However, the commonly used batch synthesis methods for boronate esters suffer from drawbacks such as long reaction times, low yields, and difficulties in controlling scale-up effects. These limitations have hindered the industrialization of fluorenyl boronate esters and their derivatives to some extent.
YHCHEM SOLUTION
After multiple experiments, the YHCHEM Technology team has developed a relatively mature process route, as shown in the figure below.

Taking the production of 100 g of 9-Phenylfluoren-9-ol boronate ester (FOHBin) as an example, the YHCHEM process has significantly reduced the reaction time from 18 hours to just 58 seconds, while increasing the yield from 70% to 87.4%. Additionally, the process allows for production scaling by simply increasing the number of modules, with virtually no scale-up effect.
